These chickens will make you smile, they are wonderfully looking, with muffs, beard, feathered feet and five toes. They are talkative, curious, friendly, submissive. The hens go broody often and are good mothers, they also will lay prolifically over winter. Faverolles cockerels are calm and dignified, and make great cockerels for the home flock since they are not as aggressive as some others.
Because of their gentleness Faverolles have become a popular breed of chicken to keep as a pet, especially for children.
Perhaps because of their easy going temperament, they are usually fairly low on the pecking order and can be subjected to bullying with larger more assertive birds.
