Orpingtons are docile and super friendly. They are a top choice for many families because the buff is superb with children.
These fluffy and feathery peace loving birds are irresistibly cuddly and will often seek you out to let you know they need attention.
Their fabulous feathering makes them very cold hardy. The hens go broody often and are fabulous mothers.
Orpington cockerels are calm and dignified, and make great cockerels for the home flock since they are not as aggressive as some others.
Perhaps because of their easy going temperament, they are usually fairly low on the pecking order and can be subjected to bullying with larger more assertive birds.
